About Project
Brief : Take inspiration from any surface and generate a challenging AI picture based on that and replicate the surface on garment.
Mentor : Mudita Pasari, Shazaman Saiyed
Concept : The project is inspired by TURKISH CERAMICS which are known for their rich & intricate patterns, usually painted in vibrant colours & often featuring floral motifs or geometric patterns. I merged this art with Shibori which is a traditional Japanese resist-dying technique.
The replication of turkish ceremic surface on garment included stiching shibori technique, glueing geometrical boxes to resist dying & to achieve white checks & motifs in one go of dying which was the ultimate challange of this project.
Process : The process has been the most interesting part as it included going from initial iterations, final silhouette, final details, fabric sourcing, dyeing, pattern making, toile making & final garment construction.

Digital illustration
The upper bodice, inspired by seashells, adds structure and form, while the Shibori-dyed rapron flows with intricate floral patterns. Together, they create a balance of strength and fluidity, blending nature’s beauty with traditional craftsmanship.


Shibori process

Step 1
Draw geometrical boxes and glue them to resist dye.

Step 2
Cutting floral patterns on paper as design templates.

Step 3
Tracing 500 floral motifs onto the fabric for precise placement.

Step 4
Hand-stitching Shibori techniques on each flower to create the resist effect.

Step 5
Dyeing the fabric, then carefully removing the stitches to reveal the final pattern.
